H1N1, Singapore.

71 close contacts on the same flight with the first confirmed H1N1 patient in Singapore, a 22-year-old female SMU student, were identified as of yesterday's night. Just few hours ago, another 3 confirmed cases were announced.

Since the outbreak, the virus has caused over 100 deaths and 13000 infections worldwide. The flu outbreak would be declared as a pandemic if the situation worsen in time to come.

As the H1N1 virus continue to spread, the economy is taking a hit from it as well. People would want to stay indoors as precautionary measure if the situation were to worsen. Food & Beverage, Entertainment, Tourism sectors and related, may foresee loss in patronage/profit.

The situation here seems to be under control. People are still rarely seen with N95 on in the public. This means either the patients are resting at home or most of us are healthy. With the first confirmed flu case identified in Singapore yesterday morning (and more that's announced earlier on), it is essential that everyone exercise personal responsibilities such as maintain hygiene level and wearing a mask when necessary.

kudos to the creator of the hilarious fan-subbed parody below! ;D
i think it reminded us to stay cheerful and hopeful amidst the influenza trouble.
